I'm a big fan of Christine Feehan's Dark Series (paranormal romances with vampires and shape shifters) and had to get her latest book Dark Possession.

This book in the Carpathian series about MaryAnn and Manolito, set in the South American rainforests. The opening was fabulous. With Manolito trapped in a strange realm, without memories, not knowing friend from foe or how he got there. His brother believes MaryAnn to by Manolito's lifemate, the only on he might trust and gets her to search for him in the rainforest.

MaryAnn, on the other hand is a city girl with an amazing sense of style. She is a counsellor of battered woman yet dresses beautifully within her means. She wore her beloved Forzieri jacket and a pair of high heeled boots (she had them both weatherproofed) for her trip into the rainforest. Her boots were ruined, but she clung on to her precious jacket.
